Starting Valentine’s Day 2026, BAWS will proudly begin hosting the Bay Area Bad Date List on our website. The BDL is a crucial community-based violence intervention tool, and a database where SWers can make anonymous reports of violent or dangerous dates of any kind, preventing harm before it can happen.
In collaboration with the Naughty Nurse Mobile, we hope to carry on the legacy of the original Bay Area BDL, lovingly launched and held for many years by St. James Infirmary. With the sudden dissolution of SJI in 2023, we are still seeing shockwaves of service disruption and major gaps in important health and safety measures for our community. It’s more important than ever that we take systems into our own hands and keep ourselves safe. City officials and many non-profits across the Bay can not be counted on to unflinchingly support the services we need, leaving local organizations to pick up the slack . We consider it a privilege and pleasure to steward this critical arm of the collective well-being, and will do so with care and unwavering commitment.
If you or anyone you know in The Bay Area has an experience that should be catalogued for our communal safety, we hope you’ll use and share this resource without hesitation. We pledge to provide anonymity for you and accountability for ourselves as we provide a steady home for the BDL, and hope to steward it in a way that honors each and every worker, for as long as we can.
Thank you to anyone who has made a report or tended to in the BDL in the past, we follow in your footsteps and bring you with us into the next chapter of this public resource.
To report a bad date, click here bayareaworkerssupport.org/bad-date-list and follow the instructions!
For privacy’s sake, DO NOT share the intake form or the published Bad Date List in public spheres, like social media or other websites. Instead, we encourage folks to privately share the page on our website that links to the reporting form.
We aim to have the published list ready for you by early Spring. Keep an eye out for it!
In Solidarity,
BAWS
